今年我们迎来了一个不同寻常的新学期。新型冠状病毒突然爆发，疫情蔓延至全国。我们的寒假有了一个延长版，新的学期我们在网上开学。

这是一次特殊的经历，教学的空间和形式都有了变化。网上教学，全靠学生的自觉自律。暂时的困难没有阻止BC师生前进的脚步，让我们来看看BC老师和同学是如何应对新的变化，坚持停课不停学的。

●疫情阻隔了师生面授面学，但不会中断师生之间的教学联系。在这个特殊时期，老师们始终关心学生们的学习情况，远在国外的外教们克服时差问题，合理安排教学，保障同学们的正常学习。

● 一年之计在于春，春天是播种的季节，没有播种耕耘就不会有真正的收获。在接下来的居家学习期间，希望同学们积极主动地规划自己的学习，给自己拟定详细的学习安排，我相信大家都有学习的愿望，因为学习让人不断地自我更新，最终成为更好的自己。学习是令人愉悦的事，但这并不意味着学习的过程时刻快乐。学习带来体验的乐趣和获得的充实，但它常常伴随着枯燥，艰涩与重重困难。而这正是对我们意志的磨砺，信念的考验。它是一个自我锻造过程，艰难困苦玉汝于成，千锤百炼方能成才。

● 经过这次疫情，我们看到这个时代真正的英雄是那些有担当、有学识、有勇气的志士仁人。同学们要树立崇高的人生理想，修养品德，立志成才，在疫情期间学不止步，增长才干，将来做社会的栋梁，民族的脊骨。

● Mr Ruelle：对在家学习最好的帮助是限制智能手机的使用，或使用时制定一个对自己有好处的的计划，使用时持续多长时间以及达到什么目的；或者在家里一个固定的位置使用固定的设备，例如电脑，并在设定的时间内完成工作，这样会更好。如果使用智能手机的话，手机上的所有社交媒体都容易让人分心，并且无穷无尽，这让会让我们的注意力被分散。

● Mr. Law：一个称为Schoology的出色平台促进了学生的家庭学习。也是在这个平台，学生可以通过结合教师最新的建议来轻松地重新提交他们的作业/论文。这对于在写作过程中分别指导学生：大纲，草稿，第二稿等非常有用。同时提供个人反馈和标记也很棒。它还使教师可以轻松地滚动浏览每个人的工作，并跟踪每个人应该注意的事情（教师可以轻松地截取屏幕截图，以便他们可以将问题与具体示例一起向全班讨论）。学生应该利用这个绝佳的机会来提高自己的写作水平！

● Mr. Gordon：我对大家在家学习的建议是为你的一天制定并遵守计划。不要一边学一边玩，在学习时要认真。在学习之前，先洗个澡，刷个牙，换上正式的衣服等等。在学习之前，请遵循常规的上课习惯，以使你的大脑进入学习的思维定式，如果在床上或者是穿着睡衣很难认真学习。

BC学生学不停

面对学习环境的改变，学习平台完全转移网上，这对国际部学生而言并不难适应。如何合理规划学习，让停课不停学落在实处？BC11年级同学表达了自己的看法：

●每天都能从新闻中得知疫情的最新情况，感受到了奋战在一线的人员的付出。面对延期开学，我们要尽快适应网上教学的方式，不荒废时间，制定学习目标。——王逸凡

●学校暂停返校复课，我就在家里自己安排学习。每天都会列好当日任务计划，然后逐一完成。疫情对于我们的日常生活都产生了不少影响，也有不少的医生在此次的抗疫工作中不幸丧生，希望全国能够齐心协力，勇敢地度过疫情阶段。——卢菲菲

●由于疫情的发展，学校延迟了开学时间并将课程更改为网上教学，我们也应该快速调整自己的学习状态，为每天制定对应的学习计划，学会督促自己按时完成作业。——杜霏阳

●作为一个高中国际生，在疫情期间，除了制定好学习计划，保证“停课不停学”的高效学习质量，即使和外教无法面对面，也尽量做到及时的线上交流；还会时刻关注新型冠状病毒感染的肺炎的动态，关心在一线和病毒抗争的各职业人员们的消息。——宋亦珺

●受疫情影响，我们国际部外教暂不能返回，该如何安排在家学习的呢？我的核心就是规划一个合理的时间表。把每天要做的雅思题目，要背的雅思单词，要练的钢琴曲目分时间列好。同时也要注意劳逸结合，在忙碌之余打打游戏，弹弹琴，做做小点心。——陈润艾

●虽然因为这次的疫情没有办法外出上雅思课，但是我依旧会用家中的书籍进行自学，并让爸妈进行一定程度的督促检查。希望我国能尽快渡过这一难关！——陈钰燕

●每天关注“肺炎疫情实时动态”，不出门，不添乱，就为国家做贡献。作息规律，学习娱乐劳逸结合。睡前坚持听书，白天坚持背英文单词、使用网络学习雅思，按时完成老师布置的学习任务。——曾倪一行

●在这期间发现了自己隐藏起来的很多天赋，从连菜都分不清的厨房小白变成了大厨，之前对电器一窍不通的现在连热水器都会修。开学时间一再推迟，因外教在国外有时差的原因，网课没法做最优的安排，这就更需要同学们的自觉性，自己主动学习，认真完成作业，争取让学习进度不落下。——张乐阳

从同学们的反应中可以看出，同学们在家学习的热情与在学校中并无差别，作为国际生，同学们一方面密切关注疫情发展，一方面自主安排，安心学习。

你和我：坚守与传承

●国际部BC的同学家长也有直接参与一线抗疫工作的，面对战斗在前方的母亲，BC10年级万智心说出她的心里话：

●我妈在卫健委工作，负责医院，物资等方面的工作。具体工作会涉及发热门诊，疑似病人和确诊处理。医用防疫物资的准备和调配等待……目前在上海投身一线防疫工作。

●最近妈妈一直处于工作状态，我和弟弟待在崇明。我想和她通电话，白天经常一直忙音，只能晚上10点以后。交谈几分钟，妈妈又说：有电话进来了，她要挂了。感觉有许多话想和妈妈聊一聊，但每次都匆匆挂断，纵有万般不舍。想想湖北，想想武汉，想想那里的父母孩子，想想那里的医护人员，想想几万名援鄂医疗队员和在后面默默支持的几十万，几百万的后援团。我还是不要占用妈妈更多的时间。千言万语，我想还是等到春暖花开，疫情结束后再说吧！

●短时间里，妈妈送走几批援鄂医疗队，昨天走的是精神方面的专家。以前我对医生这个职业的认识就是你身体不舒服，他们是让你吃药打针，慢慢你就感觉舒服的人。现在我看到电视里的，妈妈身边熟悉的身影，一个个穿上冲锋衣，跟着一面面飘扬的红旗，前赴后继，奔向武汉！在和平时期，对医生这个职业而言，常常直面别人的生和死。可是，在过去的这几周，我看到这个群体，他们为了更多人的生，而把自己的生死置之度外。他们是属于我们这个时代的真正的英雄！如果有可能，我希望我自己将来也成为一个医生，成为像他们那样的人，接过他们的班，传承他们的奉献和牺牲精神！

This year we ushered in an unusual new semester. The sudden outbreak of the new coronavirus spread the epidemic across the country. We have an extended version of our winter vacation, and we start the new semester online.

This is a special experience, and the space and form of teaching have changed. Online teaching relies on students self-discipline. Temporary difficulties have not stopped BC teachers and students from moving forward. Lets take a look at how BC teachers and students are coping with new changes and insisting on suspension of classes.

● The epidemic has stopped teachers and students from giving face-to-face teaching, but it will not interrupt the teaching links between teachers and students. In this special period, teachers kept their concern about the learning situation of students. Foreign teachers who are far away abroad overcome the time difference, arrange teaching reasonably, and ensure the normal learning of students.

Class teacher has a message

● The years plan lies in spring. Spring is the season for sowing. Without sowing, there will be no real harvest. During the next home studying period, I hope that the students will actively plan their own studies and draw up detailed study arrangements for themselves. I believe that everyone has the desire to learn because learning makes people self-renewing and eventually becomes a better Yourself. Learning is enjoyable, but it does not mean that the learning process is always happy. Learning brings fun and enrichment to the experience, but it is often accompanied by boring, hard and difficult. This is exactly the test of our will and the test of faith. It is a self-forging process. Yu Yucheng is difficult and painstaking.

● After this epidemic, we see that the true heroes of this era are those who have the responsibility, knowledge, and courage. Students must establish lofty ideals in life, cultivate moral character, and become talents. During the epidemic, they learn more, grow their talents, and become the backbone of society and the backbone of the nation in the future.

Counsels from foreign teacher

● Mr Ruelle: The best thing that helps is to limit the smartphone use or have some sort of a constructive plan when youll use it, for how long, and what purpose. Even better I would say use a fixed place at home with a fixed device such as a computer and do the work in set times. If you use a smartphone all the social media will be a distraction and it is endless which takes away focus from work.

●Mr. Law: Students’ home learning has been promoted by an excellent platform called schoology. This platform allows students to easily resubmit their work/essay by incorporating teachers’ most updated suggestions (on Schoology as well). It is great for guiding students individually through the writing process: outline, rough draft, second draft, and so on. It is also great for providing individual feedback and marks at the same time. It also allows the teachers to easily scroll through everyone’s work and keep track of things that everyone should be aware of (The teachers can easily take screenshots so that they can address the issues along with concrete examples to the whole class). Students should take advantage of this excellent opportunity to improve their writing!

●Mr. Gordon:My advice to your home studying is to have a plan for your day. Stick to the plan. Separate study and play. Be serious when you are studying. Take a shower, brush your teeth, change into uniform, etc. before studying. Follow your regular school routine before you study so your brain gets into the studying mindset. Really hard to study seriously in bed or in pajamas.

Facing the changes in the learning environment, the learning platform is completely transferred online, which is not difficult for international students to adapt. How to plan learning properly so that non-stop classes can be implemented? BC11 students expressed their views:

●I can learn the latest situation of the epidemic from the news every day, and feel the dedication of the front-line staff. In face of the delayed start of school, we must adapt to the way of online teaching as soon as possible, not waste time, and set learning goals. ——Yvonne

●School was suspended, and I would arrange my own study at home. Each days task plan will be listed and then completed one by one. The epidemic has had many impacts on our daily lives, and many doctors have tragically lost their lives in this anti-epidemic work. ●Due to the development of the epidemic, the school has delayed the start of school and changed the course to online teaching. ●As a high school international student, during the epidemic period, in addition to making a good study plan to ensure the high quality of “suspended classes”, even if you cant face to face with foreign teachers, try to communicate in a timely manner as much as possible. ● Affected by the epidemic, our foreign teachers in the International Department cannot return for the time being. How can we arrange home study? My core is to plan a reasonable timetable. List the IELTS topics to be done every day, the IELTS words to be memorized, and the piano songs to be practiced. At the same time, pay attention to the combination of work and rest, play games, play the piano, and make snacks when you are busy. ——Amy

●Although there is no way to go out for IELTS because of this outbreak, I still use the books in my home for self-study and let my parents carry out a certain degree of supervision and inspection. I hope our country can overcome this obstacle as soon as possible! ——Olivia

●Pay attention to the “real-time dynamics of the pneumonia epidemic every day” and contribute to the country without going out and adding chaos. Regularity of work and rest, learning the combination of entertainment and work. Always listen to books before going to bed, keep on reading English words during the day, use the Internet to learn IELTS, and complete the learning tasks assigned by the teacher on time. ——Tom

●During this period, I found many hidden talents, from a kitchen incomprehensible to vegetables to a chef. Now I do n’t know anything about electrical appliances, and now even water heaters are repaired. The start time has been repeatedly delayed. Due to the time difference of foreign teachers in foreign countries, the online lessons cannot be optimally arranged. This requires students self-consciousness. They take the initiative to study and complete their homework carefully, so as to keep the learning progress from falling. ——Roy

It can be seen from the reactions of the students that the enthusiasm of the students to study at home is not different from that in the school. As international students, the students pay close attention to the development of the epidemic on the one hand, and make arrangements for independent study on the other hand.

You and me: Perseverance and inheritance

●Parents of BC students also directly participated in the frontline anti-epidemic work. Facing the mother who was fighting ahead, BC10 grade Jessica said her heart:

●My mother works in the health and health committee and is responsible for hospitals and supplies. The specific work will involve hot fever, suspected patients and confirmed diagnosis. Preparation and deployment of medical epidemic prevention materials are waiting … Currently, I am engaged in front-line epidemic prevention work in Shanghai.

●Recently, my mother has been working, while my brother and I stayed in Chongming. I wanted to talk to her on the phone. She always keeps busy during the day, only after 10pm. After talking for a few minutes, my mother said: A call came in and she need to hang up. I feel like I have a lot of words to tell my mother, but I hung up every time, even though Im sad and unwilling to do so. Thinking of Hubei, thinking of Wuhan, thinking of the parents and children there, thinking of the medical staff there, thinking of the countless medical team members who supports Hubei, and the hundreds of thousands, millions of support groups who silently support them in the back. I shouldn’t take up her time. Though there are thousands of words, I think I will wait until the spring is blooming, and say it after the epidemic is over!

●In a short period of time, my mother sent away several batches of medical aid to Hubei. Yesterday, it was the mental experts. In the past, my understanding of the profession of doctors was that when you are uncomfortable they are the ones who made you take medicines and injections, and then you are back to your hundreds. Now I see on TV, those doctors used to be around my mother, one by one they put on the jacket, following the flying red flags, went to Wuhan without hesitation! In peacetime, for the profession of doctor, often face the life and death of others. However, in the past few weeks, I have seen this group, they put their lives and deaths aside for the sake of more lives. They are the true heroes of our time! If possible, I hope that I will also become a doctor in the future, become someone like them, take over their class, and inherit their dedication and sacrifice!
